One of the ways to create something unique and personalised in framing is to get creative with the matting. Here are examples of some of the different ways we can enhance your framing project.

This is a custom designed carved mount. Taking inspiration from the flowers in the wedding photo, our framer created this unique one off design and then carved it into the matting. A subtle, yet beautiful touch.

Fabric wrapping of mattboards is a great way of bringing subtle texture, depth of colour and a richness to your works. This is a traditional technique which is rarely seen in framing today. You do see pre-manufactured fabric mats but having the matting wrapping over the bevel adds a classic and elegant touch.

Another traditional technique not seen much these days is French wash lines. This is a modern take on this technique. We used gouche to achieve a bold band of white around the image which had been floated on a cotton rag matting.

Last but by no means least, this is one of the very unique services we can offer in custom matting embellishments. This matting is a work of art in itself. Firstly our framer embossed this original, unique design into the piece of mattboard. The board is then undercoated in the desired colour. We then gilded this matting in 23ct gold leaf. The finished result is breathtaking and has the WOW factor.
