What an amazing piece

Circa 1870's through to 1879 these beautiful frames are made from Walnut burl veneer with gilded inner and outer edges and lovely incised corner design.

A frame that typifies the simplicity of Eastlake design, this frame is marked by a characteristic frame profile that slopes back,away from the picture surface, rather than towards the picture plane, a more conventional nineteenth-century configuration. In the Eastlake tradition of simplicity, the incised decoration within the wood veneer was gilded.
